This turn signal switch is for the fixed steering column non tilt. These switches are made by the OE supplier to Ford. Not a cheap reproduction. Ford tooling at a better price. Does NOT overheat. Works with Shelby and Cougar with sequential tail lights.
Fits:
1967 Comet
1967 Cougar
1967 Fairlane
1967 Galaxie
1967 Mustang
1967 Ranchero
Appears to be well built, and the plastic feels more flexible than some other aftermarket switches I've used. I installed it in my 1967 Mercury Comet 202. The old one had turned brittle and most of the flexible bits had broken off long ago (cancellation tabs, and the hooks to hold the lever in position letting my car fall into a left blinker situation on any bump in the road). The other switches I've used (for my "73 F250, and "68 Mercury Commuter - through Dearborne Classics and Eckles) came with a little bit of dielectric grease for the horn contacts, and cancel pin (they did not cost as much as this one either). The wires are also very different in length. In my case it didn't leave much room to keep the connector away from my clutch foot (the yellow wire in-particular was a good 5" shorter than the next shortest wire). There is an extra red wire for some other Fords out there. Your vehicle may need this red wire, but mine has no where for it to go (I laid out both harnesses together before installing them). I am having an issue with the left side power. The left tail light does not have a brake light response, or blinker unless I push the blinker lever down further than it would naturally sit (past the click), and hold it. Sometimes it will continue to work after I release the lever, but not normally (the blinker keeps the same pace, and the front light blinks, but not the rear light). My emergency flashers also do not work, but if I press the brake pedal, they will come on but not blink. I am going to drive the car for a few days before I come to a conclusion (it is 104* tomorrow and this car doesn't have A/C so I might wait until night time, or a cooler day). I really hope I do not have to return this because doing Yoga poses under my dash to tinker with this is no longer fun (I am 55).
